PRODUCTS’ END-OF-LIFE: CLOSING THE CIRCLE
How repair and recycling complete the circular journey
The conversation around sustainability often starts with how we make things. Increasingly, it is also about what happens after, when products are worn, torn and at the end of their life. Across the apparel industry, a growing repair culture is helping extend product life, keeping valuable materials in use longer. But even the best repairs reach their limits. That is where Re:Down® comes in, giving new life to what can no longer be fixed, and helping brands truly close the circle.
Repair: The first act of circularity
Repair is not just about fixing zippers and patching sleeves, it’s becoming a key pillar of circular design. Extending a product’s life is one of the most effective ways to reduce its environmental footprint, but it also brings strong brand and business benefits. Repair programs build trust, strengthen loyalty, and demonstrate that a brand stands by its products for the long run.
Across the outdoor industry, repair has moved from niche service to mainstream commitment. Brands like Patagonia, Mountain Equipment, Bergans of Norway, and The Renewal Workshop (Bleckmann, U.S.) have invested in professional repair systems, creating both environmental and reputational value. Even major fashion players like Zara are entering the field, signalling that repair is no longer limited to outdoor gear.

This quarter, our Meet the Team series takes us to Shanghai, China
meet the team:
Managing Director Re:Down Shanghai, China
With Re:Down since 2019
His Path to Re:Down
For Max, joining Re:Down was a moment where personal values aligned with professional purpose. With a strong belief in responsible resource use, he was drawn to a role where sustainability is not an abstract goal but an everyday practice.
“Joining Re:Down felt like a natural step toward contributing to a more circular textile industry,” he says, a place where he could create tangible impact while helping shape a more responsible supply chain in China and beyond.
A Day in His Role
Max’s day begins with coordinating directly with collection partners and reviewing production progress to ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Much of his work revolves around alignment, connecting teams, solving operational questions, and planning improvements that make the system more efficient and more sustainable.
It is a role that demands clarity, operational discipline, and constant problem-solving, all in service of keeping the recycling loop functioning smoothly.
Recycled Materials, Real Purpose
Working with recycled materials gives Max a strong sense of purpose.
He sees every step, from collection to final product, as proof that business can actively reduce waste and protect natural resources.
“We are not just producing materials, we are reducing waste, protecting resources, and proving that sustainability can be built into the core of an industry.”

HEAD × LINDSEY VONN
A Legacy Collection Featuring Re:Down® Insulation
HEAD’s ongoing collaboration with former Olympic alpine skier Lindsey Vonn continues this season with the Legacy Collection, a line that blends refined ski fashion with technical performance. The concept is rooted in Vonn’s long partnership with the brand and revisits vintage alpine design through a modern lens.
Design Direction Inspired by Vonn
Vonn worked closely with HEAD’s design team, contributing to silhouette choices, fit, and detailing. The result is a collection that references 1970s piste style while incorporating updated materials and tailoring.
Re:Down® as the Insulation Choice
Selected pieces in the Legacy Collection include insulation made from Re:Down® recycled down, sourced from post-consumer bedding and outerwear. The recycled material offers insulation and lightness consistent with virgin down, according to independent technical descriptions of recycled down performance.
RE:WOOL®
From Wool Leftovers to High-Performance Insulation
Fine wool spinning always produces remnants: short fibres, off-cuts, and production scraps that cannot be respun into new yarn. These materials traditionally had little value and often ended up as waste. Re:Wool® offers a different outcome, transforming pre-consumer wool leftovers into a high-performance insulation designed for apparel and gear.
1. Collection: recovering a valuable resource
Re:Wool® starts at spinning mills specialised in fine wool yarns. The fibres left behind are too short for re-spinning, yet described as “too precious to go to waste.” These scraps are collected directly from production, forming a consistent pre-consumer feedstock.
