10 Years:
From Pioneer to Industry Standard

What if waste was never waste to begin with?
What if the most sustainable material is the one already in circulation?
Ten years ago, these were not marketing claims. They were questions asked from inside the textile industry itself.
Today, they have become part of a new standard.
Where It Started: A Matter of Conviction
Re:Down was not created as a trend-driven initiative. It was born from firsthand industry experience.
Working within the textile sector, co-founders Eric Firmann and Tae Hwang witnessed a structural paradox: high-quality natural materials, like down and feathers, were being discarded at the end of their lifecycle, despite retaining significant value.
The idea behind Re:Down was simple, yet radical at the time:
what if these materials could be recovered, processed, and reused at scale without compromising performance?
This conviction still defines the company today:
” doing better with what already exists “.
A Decade of Building Trust in Circular Down
Turning that vision into an industrial reality required more than intent. It required execution.
Founded in 2015 Re:Down quickly moved from concept to application in Hungary. By 2016, the first jackets filled with recycled down were already available on the market.
By 2017, the model had proven its early scalability, with 500 tons of post-consumer goods diverted from landfill.
Over time, Re:Down developed a fully integrated system: combining sourcing, sorting, cleaning, and reprocessing into a controlled, traceable supply chain.
Today, recycled down is no longer experimental.
It is a reliable, certified, and scalable material solution.
Innovation as a Continuous Discipline
From the beginning, innovation at Re:Down has not been about disruption for its own sake but about solving concrete industrial challenges.
A key milestone came in 2022 with the development of automatic extraction machines, designed to efficiently recover down from post-consumer products while preserving fibre quality.
At the same time, the company strengthened its global infrastructure:
These steps were critical in moving from a promising concept to a globally operational system.
Beyond technology, innovation has also focused on traceability. Re:Down’s alignment with standards such as GRS ensures full transparency, responding to a growing industry demand for verifiable data over claims.
Expanding the Circular Vision: Re:Wool®
After a decade focused on post-consumer down, Re:Down extended its expertise to a new material stream.
In 2025, the company introduced Re:Wool®, a recycled wool insulation made from post-industrial waste.
This expansion reflects a broader vision:
The objective is not to multiply materials, but to offer coherent, scalable alternatives across fibre types.
From Materials to Measurable Impact
Re:Down’s philosophy has remained consistent: circularity must be measurable, not declarative.
The company’s approach is based on:
This is reflected in its positioning: transparency over greenwashing
For brands, this translates into something essential: the ability to back sustainability claims with real, auditable systems.
From Supplier to Strategic Partner
As adoption increased, Re:Down’s role evolved.
By 2019, more than 50 international brands, from major retailers to premium outdoor players, were already working with Re:Down. But beyond supplying materials, the company now supports brands across:
In a context of increasing regulatory pressure and consumer scrutiny, this shift is critical. Brands are no longer looking for alternatives. They are looking for solutions that work at scale.
A New Identity for a New Phase
To mark its 10-year anniversary, Re:Down is introducing a new brand identity and launching a new website.
This evolution reflects a clear positioning:
From a pioneer of recycled down to a reference partner in circular insulation materials
The new platform has been designed to better support B2B stakeholders, offering direct access to technical data, certifications, and material applications.
It is built with the same philosophy as the products themselves:
clear, precise, and focused on what matters.

Why This Matters Now
The textile industry is entering a decisive phase.
Circularity is no longer a forward-looking ambition, it is becoming an operational requirement.
Brands are expected to:
In this context, experience becomes a differentiator.
With 10 years of industrial development, Re:Down offers something still rare in the market:
a circular solution that is already proven.
Looking Ahead
The next decade will not be about introducing recycled materials. It will be about making them the norm.
Re:Down will continue to:
After 10 years of development, circular materials are no longer a promise:
they are becoming the new baseline.
